Cheltenham Badlands
Welcome to ‘Mars’-Cheltenham badlands
If you would like to experience Mars-like landscape without travelling through space, come to Cheltenham badlands. There you’ll be able to discover what walking on Mars might feel like, because this is definitely like nothing you have seen before. Amazing red colour hills, mixed with greenish-grey bands creates an impression of being on Mars. The reddish colour is caused by iron oxide, while narrow greenish-grey bands are created where groundwater has transformed the rock from red to green iron oxide. The Badlands were created 450 million years ago when that land was the ocean floor, and the unique shape of the badlands is due to corrosion after vegetation was removed in the late 19th century.
After Niagara Falls, the Cheltenham Badlands are a must-see for all visitors to Toronto, Canada. They are located a short drive from downtown Toronto.
Photos will be posted soon........
Happy Travelling!
